Is this too much like Lord of the Rings?

Missing heirs are a feature of many fantasy stories, not just Lord of the Rings. (The Belgariad by David Eddings is an example.) Usually, the heir does reclaim the throne, otherwise there wouldn't be much point in his being the heir, but I've read at least one story where he doesn't.
