HELP! I took my son back to creche (baby cl) today after a two month vacation and he was hysterical!?

My 2 years-8month old son has been attending creche since he was 1 year 9 months. He has been on a two month summer vacation and when I took him back to school today, he threw a tantrum and cried; clinging to my leg for dear life! He cried hysterically when I left. I am wondering why this is so because he knows the teacher and his clmates; these were not unfamiliar people. What caused this reaction? Should i pull him out of creche? Am i forcing my son into this? Is he still too young for me to be taking him to creche in the first place? I am really confused and appealing to any mums who have been through this to advice!
